The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has announced that the nation's tax season will start on Monday, January 20th 2026, when federal the tax agency will begin accepting and processing 2025 tax year returns.
EITC has increased for the 2025 tax year!
The IRS will begin accepting paper and electronic tax returns that day. This is about two weeks later than had been expected. This delay will allow the IRS time to do additional programming and testing of IRS systems .
What does that mean for you as a taxpayer and client of Max Tax Service LLC? Glad you asked
We encourage you to book an appointment and get your taxes prepared by one of our professionals as soon as you get your tax documents. We cannot file your tax return any earlier than Jan, 2025. BUT we can definitely ensure it's one of the first tax returns filed and 2nd submitted electronically when the IRS opens their doors.
We highly encourage you electronically file your tax returns with one of our Max Pro’s if you can. We do not encourage mailing the return.
Here's why:
The IRS received roughly 16 million paper individual returns last year. As of Dec. 25, the agency said, it still had 6.9 million individual tax returns in the “processing pipeline” — which is over 40 percent.
With that said, if you do not file electronically this tax season it's highly possible your tax return will be pending with the IRS for MONTHS and there's nothing any of us can do about it. That could also hold up your stimulus payment as well.
It's super important that as soon as you receive your documents you book an appointment with your Max Pro and get that return e filed. All of our Max Tax Pros’s have 100 hours of tax law knowledge and background checks are verified.
